Highlands Ranch High School Falcons Boys' Basketball
Below is our preseason workout/open gym schedule. Anyone interested in trying out and playing boys' basketball this winter is welcome and encouraged to attend as many as possible. We will be doing skill development specific to our uptempo system at each of these sessions (we are NOT just rolling the basketballs out and playing), so a commitment to joining our workouts will help players develop their games as a whole over the next couple of months.
We’d also like to reserve the weight room for the hour leading up to each open gym session (so if we start at 6:15 pm, we’d like to go in the weight room at 5:15 pm, for instance). If a student is already in a weight lifting class, we do not expect them to double up; however, we do basketball-specific weight lifting, which is vital to taking players' games to the next level.

Tryouts the following week (most likely 11/13 & 11/14)
FALL SKILL DEVELOPMENT/OPEN GYMS: We follow a similar philosophy and schedule as college programs, in that we use the fall/preseason to work with our players as a whole (skill level, strength, and conditioning) in order to prepare them to play and thrive in our unique system and style of play. We encourage our athletes to participate in multiple sports, but those that are not playing a fall sport will benefit greatly from attending as many of these sessions as possible.
THANKSGIVING BREAK PRACTICES: Because our practices officially begin the week before Thanksgiving Break, we practice Monday-Saturday over that break (except for Thanksgiving Day, of course) to prepare for our first games. We also typically hold official scrimmages with other high school programs on that Friday or Saturday.
WINTER BREAK PRACTICES: High School programs in Colorado are not allowed to practice from December 24th to the 27th, after which we resume our practices as normal in order to prepare for the games that directly follow the New Year. We typically will hold practice the day after our last game before break (usually December 20th or 21st) before giving the players a few days off.
